hi friends,
My suggestion is as follows : Let USCIS issue GC for primary applicants without considering PD :) and, issue GC to family members as per PD.
Anyhow getting GC for primary applicant is important then dependent or let them consider whole family as single case instead of considering each family member as single.

In my humble opinion this is the best thing that could have happened!!! I feel bad for Mr. Khan suffering like a common man for a while but his suffering brought to light what we have to deal with every time we travel...
I think extreme cases bring home the point so I would encourage Indian government and the governments of all the south asian countries to take this up with the USCIS / Home land security and ask them to educate their staff...

I got the below numbers from the PERM FDLC site.
2005 India 1353
2006 India 3888
2007 India 60
2008 India 10
Total 5311
5311 for both EB1-5 : So taking 50% for EB2I - 2655
GC : 2655*2.5 = 6637 ~ 6500 (considering lucky 2008 Aug-Sep approvals, 2009 Sept)

If PD moves to last quarter of 2007 within a year, then there would be no candidates (EB2), since all will still be stuck in PERM audits which will take 6-12 more months to clear + I-140 processing time.

Dude, Read Vivek Wadhwas findings carefully. He wants the best and the brightest to be provided unlimited visas. I agree with him completely. He is not for perpetual fraud and wage destruction as proferred by the outsourcing companies. I doubt we can see a visa number increase until the CIR bus comes around again. It is anyones guess when that will be.
I think the only things that might stand a chance is visa recapture. If there are even 150-200K visas recaptured, this will tremendously improve retrogression for up to 2 years. Pressure is building on legislators from both employers and state gov't putting up arbitrary rules which are splitting communities. The enforcement approach taken by gov't is also giving pause for thought to some moderates on this issue. McCains ascension to republican nominee will serve to cool the temperature on this issue during the election season. Hopefully they can do something transitional in the interim which includes visa recapture.

Please quote these sites where they mention what is happening in Sri Lanka is a "Genocide". What happened during WWII was a genocide of the Jews. The camps where the IDP's are kept are temporary where they are checked to make sure that there are no suicide bombers, terrorists etc. The LTTE is known to hide behind civilians and attack, like they do now from the safe zone. They are preventing the civilians from leaving the safe zone... so in effect the LTTE is committing a genocide of it's own people. If there is a Genocide then you would see it everywhere in the country, which is not happening. Half my family side is Tamil, and live in the south / central and west of the island. They are all fine and have no issues, now you go figure.
Having said that i'm not gonna say that the SL gov is an angel, it has it's bad side and good side. I am from AP. And my father had first hand experience getting ripped off by this dead mans cronies when they threatened and grabbed my fathers small plot, that he had bought way back in 89, on the out-skirts of Hyd. All it took was one single threatening phone call to my father and my father signed the sale deed for the land the very next day, not asking a single penny in return. His family was more precious to him than the bloody piece of land. My father worked as a clerk in a central govt office. He is a simple man and has no clout.
I am sad that YSR is dead. I wish he survived but with 3rd degree burns and limped out his miserable life for the next 100 yrs.

This can all happen if we take the stand.

We are thinking about applying for canadian PR. Should we include our son (US citizen) in the application? or do US citizens get to reside in Canada without visa?

US citizens can come in and stay in canada as a tourist for temporary purposes, but you need a Canadian PR for longer stays. So YES, add your son in your application. Your US-Gc application is not affected by processing canadian PR or vice-versa.
