David Letterman made random calls to strangers and talked about the strangest subjects. ABC said Wednesday that Letterman, host of CBS' "Late Show," will make his first guest appearance on "The View" on Sept. 7. That's the day that co-panelist Walters returns to the air after taking the summer off to recover from open-heart surgery. The show also marks the start of the 14th season of "The View."
Other guests scheduled that week include former Secretary of State Colin Powell and actor Danny DeVito.
Besides Walters, "The View" stars Joy Behar (BAY'-har), Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd.
David Letterman is going to have to sit in the hot seat on Sept. 7, when he’ll make his first appearance on the 14th season premiere of The View.
The episode also marks Barbara Walters' return to regular hosting duties since her recovery from heart surgery and President Barack Obama’s appearance. According to ABC, OnTheRedCarpet.com’s parent company, the show will also feature a "surprise musical number."
Other guests lined up for the premiere week include Gen. Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice and Danny DeVito.
DeVito had an infamous appearance on a November 2006 episode of the show, where he slurred his words and told the hosts, "I knew it was the last seven limoncellos that was going to get me."
